The Wetter the Better

Things are Looking Hopeful

Things are Looking Hopeful!

For the lake, drought is not only measured by precipitation returning to normal, but groundwater levels as well. Groundwater takes considerably longer to rebound. It appears our drought conditions are ending!

We had strange but great spring conditions for ground water improvements with virtually no frost in the ground. This means the precipitation we had soaked into the soil, rather than running off and heading downstream.

The climate data center drought monitor is reporting our surface conditions as 'abnormally wet' and we have seen a rebound in groundwater conditions. This will be good as trees, which use large amounts of groundwater, green up and draw from the soil.

Our long-range weather forecast is currently calling for wetter than normal conditions, which is very hopeful too.

All in all, while we are still in climatic recovery mode from drought conditions, things are moving in the right direction.

Hopefully they will stay that way for a while!
